Next up in our newest graduate student cohort is Yi Huang, who prefers to go by Alex! Soccer fans, Alex has officially joined the party!
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Yi Huang, and you can just call me Alex. My research interests mainly focus on gender, globalization of the late China empire, and pop culture.
What program track did you choose in DAMES, and why?
Currently I prefer Chinese track as I hope to gain a deeper understanding and study of 16th-18th century China during my time in UNC.
What are you hoping to gain from your experiences here in DAMES and at UNC?
I hope to develop a more complete knowledge of and learn how to apply the “East Asian Studies paradigm” to my research here in DAMES.
For fun: what’s your favorite food, favorite animal, or favorite book?
During my leisure time, I like to play soccer and tennis. My favorite soccer player is Messi and I am a crazy fan of Inter Milan!
