CHIN 313 Advanced Written Chinese | Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies

This is a reading course designed for heritage speakers who have taken Chinese 111 and 212 or who have equal language efficiency. The course will help students improve their ability to read and write Chinese. It particularly aims to help students develop more sophisticated vocabulary and become comfortable with more complex sentence structure. It also introduces students to the Chinese word processor and classical poetry. Class meets three times per week for lectures. The textbook for this course will be Qin-Hong Anderson, Masterworks Chinese Companion: Expressive Literacy through Reading and Composition (Boston: Chen & Tsui, 2004). Prerequisite, CHIN 212.
