Weldon E. Thornton Emeritus Distinguished Professor, EmeritusKevin Hewison is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Contemporary Asia and the Weldon E. Thornton Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Asian Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 2018 to 2020 he will be an adjunct professor with the University of Macau.
He is the author of more than 200 publications on Southeast Asia, democratization and globalization. His current research interests include: globalization and social change in Southeast Asia, especially Thailand; democratization; and labor issues.
In 2014, he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.
