Women’s Narratives and Social Movements: Black Lives Matter and the Arab Spring

In the course of the past two years, revolutionary socio-political movements have swept the United States and the Middle East.  The Arab Spring dismantled autocracies and challenged conceptualizations of development in the Middle East. With a similar populist methodology, "Black Lives Matter" has changed the national dialogue on police violence and systemic racism.  Throughout these experiences, it is important to recognize the value of women's narratives.
