This summer, the Department of Asian Studies is offering language immersion programs in both Arabic and Chinese. Each program combines intensive language instruction, a culture course, and an array of cultural activities in an immersive environment.  For more detailed information or to apply, follow the link below.

Nasser Isleem (shown here with colleagues, students, and well-wishers at the induction ceremony) has been named to UNC's highest honorary society, the Order of the Golden Fleece.  He was chosen for his "contributions to strengthening and expanding the Arabic program. ... Nasser Isleem goes above and beyond to engage his students in unique learning experiences.  In addition... Nasser is dedicated to combating stereotypes about Arab and Muslim Americans through his outreach and mentoring of students and extracurricular groups."
